“IS IT WELL WITH YOUR SOUL?”

INTRO: Is it well with your soul? On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your emotional and relational health?

Why is it we can so easily recognize emotional/relational weaknesses in others, but not in ourselves? Do you really want to know the condition of your soul?

I. GOD’S WILL FOR THE SOUL.

A. To be saved (Ja. 1:21).

B. To be healed (Ps. 41:4; 147:3).

C. To be restored (Ps. 23:3a; Jer. 31:25).

D. To prosper (3Jn. 2).

     1. Health and other areas of prosperity are linked to the

          prosperity of our soul!

II. THE SOUL THAT’S WELL (Gal. 5:22-23).
A. What does a well soul look like? It bears the fruit of the

Spirit (the rational soul) (Gal. 5:22-23).

B. What comes out of us when we’re under a lot of pressure

is what’s really on the inside of us.

III. THE RESTORING OF THE SOUL.

A. Abide in the right vine (Jn. 15:1-2,  4-5, 8).

     1. Jesus takes away the unfruitful branches (v. 2a).

     2. Jesus prunes the fruitful branches (v. 2b).

     3. We bear the fruit of the vine we’re abiding in (vv. 4-5).

     4. This is basic discipleship (v. 8).

B.  Be real (honest) with yourself, God and others. God

     already knows  anyway (Ps. 6:3-4; 119:28; 42:4).

C. You may have a need to release repressed emotions (Ps.

     142).

D. Ask God to heal your soul (Ps. 116:4; 142:7; 25:1-2, 20;

     138:3).

E. Bless the Lord with your soul (Ps. 103:1-5; 131:2).
F. Realize that the healing may come as a process rather

     than an event.

CONCLUSION: Is it well with your soul? Do you need some healing and restoring in your soul (Ps. 107:9; 116:7)?
